It is normal for jewelry to show some discoloration over time but it does not mean there is anything wrong with the piece.
Jewelry is deeply personal, not just in style but in how it interacts with each wearer. Precious metals react differently to everyone due to factors like skin chemistry, lifestyle, and environmental exposure. Elements such as perspiration, skincare products, humidity, and even diet can influence how metals develop patina or wear over time. This unique reaction makes each piece truly yours, evolving with you as you wear it.

Caring for your jewelry by material
Sterling Silver
Our demi-fine collections are made of 925 Sterling Silver and electroplated with 1-micron 18k Champagne Gold, Rose Gold or Rhodium and finished with an additional coat for longer-lasting wear.
In Singapore and Asia’s humid climate, silver jewelry will naturally tarnish when it interacts with the oxygen or sulfur in the air. This is especially so when exposed to environmental factors like air pollution and moisture, however it is easy to restore its shine with proper storage, care and maintenance.
How to store
The more you wear your silver jewelry, the less it oxidises! But when you’re going to store it, rinse it with water and wipe away any skin oils or residue before storing. Store in an airtight plastic bag (like a Ziploc) to prevent oxidation. Store your jewelry away from sunlight, and never store your jewelry in the bathroom.
How to clean
If your silver jewelry is tarnished, the best way to clean it is with a jewelry polishing cloth. Never use abrasive or alcohol-based cleaners to clean your jewelry as it can damage the plating irreparably.
Regular maintenance is key. It's important not to wait for your silver jewelry to tarnish severely before cleaning it. Regular cleaning helps maintain its shine and prevents tarnish buildup, keeping your pieces looking their best for longer.
Solid Yellow Gold
You can wear your solid yellow gold pieces everyday and still last forever if you take care of it properly.
To prevent discoloration, avoid chemicals (such as but not limited to cleaning agents, chlorine, products with abrasive ingredients etc) over prolonged periods of time. Never spray perfume on your jewelry.
14k and 18k gold are durable, but are still susceptible to scratching and bending (the higher the karat, the softer the metal). Be mindful of how you wear jewelry made of precious metals as any physical activities could impact your jewelry.
How to store
Store your jewelry individually in a safe, dry place to protect it from scratching other jewelry, and the elements of daily exposure.
How to clean
While solid gold are made to last a lifetime, it does require gentle care and occasional polishing. To maintain the shine of your jewelry, gently clean it with a soft-bristled brush or cloth using warm water and detergent-free soap, or use our Town Talk Jewelry Cleaning Wand, which also comes with a piece of polishing cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners. Ultrasonic cleaners are safe to use on precious metals but avoid pieces with soft gemstones like pearls, opals or onyx.
Solid White Gold
14k white gold is created by mixing 58.5% yellow gold with white metals alloy like silver, platinum and palladium. The resulting pieces are plated with rhodium, which creates a brilliant white finish and adds a layer of durability.
18k white gold is created the same way, but with higher amounts of gold at 75.0%.
Since white gold has a base metal of yellow gold, it may take on a warmer tone over time as the rhodium finish gradually wears away, especially when exposed to environmental factors. This is normal, and the piece can be re-plated to restore its gleam.

Solid Rose Gold
Rose gold is created by mixing yellow gold with alloyed metals (in its respective karat proportions) like copper and small amounts of silver to achieve the warm pinkish hue.
Rose gold does not tarnish but may develop a patina over time.

Diamonds
Diamonds are the hardest naturally occurring material on Earth, ranking 10 on the Mohs hardness scale. Although they are highly resistant to scratches, they can still be damaged under certain circumstances.
How to store
Store in a safe, dry place on its own to avoid scratching with other diamond jewelry
How to clean
Gently buff diamond pieces using a soft-bristled brush and warm water, especially on the undersides/insides of the jewelry setting, where trapped dirt and grime can dull their shine. Rinse and dry thoroughly with a soft polishing cloth. Ultrasonic cleaners are also safe for use on diamonds, but avoid pieces with soft gemstones like pearls, opals or onyx.
Semi-Precious & Precious Stones
We use a selection of high-quality natural gemstones in our pieces, including both semi-precious and precious stones. As genuine minerals, each gemstone varies in hardness and unique properties.
Colored gemstones may gradually turn cloudy, discolor or fade when exposed to natural elements over time, including sunlight, seawater, perspiration, and chemical irritants like chlorine, cosmetics, and lotions.
How to store
When not being worn, store your jewelry individually in a safe, dry place to protect it from scratching other jewelry, and the elements of daily exposure.
How to clean
Do not use ultrasonic cleaners on colored gemstones, as they can damage or permanently discolor them. Most gemstones can be gently cleaned in warm water using a soft-bristled brush. Gently buff the pieces, especially on the undersides/insides of the jewelry setting, where trapped dirt and grime can dull their shine.
Moissanites
Moissanite is one of the hardest gemstones in the world, ranking 9.25 on the MOHs hardness scale, second only to diamonds. Although they are highly resistant to scratches, they can still be damaged under certain circumstances.

Opals
Opals are delicate stones which are sensitive to changes in factors such as temperature and humidity. They are also porous, which requires special care to maintain its iridescent rainbow-like hues.
Avoid contact with water and any other liquid. If it becomes wet, dry it and let it air dry for 24 hours. When not dried properly, opals may crack.
How to store
Store at room temperature in a dry place and avoid moisture.
How to clean
Do not use ultrasonic cleaners or any liquid cleaning agents on opals. If cleaning is needed, gently buff with a soft microfibre cloth.
Pearls
Pearls are considered to be a soft gem and therefore can scratch easily. Due to a pearl’s composition, it requires moisture so it does not dry out and crack, but exposing to water (like wearing in the shower) can damage its lustre too. Wear pearls often but clean it after use.
The golden rule for wearing and caring for pearls: put them on last and take them off first
How to store
Store them in something soft and breathable, separate from your other jewelry to prevent scratches.
How to clean
Clean your pearls with a soft cloth after each wear to remove any traces of chemicals or build-up of compounds from bodycare products, perfumes, and even perspiration (!!) which can destroy the nacre of your pearls.
We’ve done up a little dedicated care guide just for pearls here.
Enamels
Our enamel pieces are individually hand-painted on the surface of the metal. Due to the nature of its properties, it is best to avoid showering with enamel jewelry. Exposure to water and chemicals like soap can weaken the enamel over time, causing it to become dull, discolored, or even crack. Prolonged moisture can also affect the adhesive or bonding of the enamel to the metal.
How to store
Store your jewelry individually in a safe, dry place to protect it from scratching other jewelry, and the elements of daily exposure.
How to clean
Clean with a soft cloth. Do not use ultrasonic cleaners or any liquid or abrasive cleaning agents.
